As a person with Type A personality, I have this tendency to keep on obsessing about the future. I have the need to know, and to figure things out early on.

And I’m not the type of person who would typically “sail off without a map” (a statement that struck me from the K-Drama “Startup”)

However, in life, we often are faced with uncertainties. We can’t always control and know things.

Looking back, the best decisions I have made were within the realm of “sailing off without a map,” taking on that leap of faith, and trusting my gut, my intuition, and that this is the path I am meant to take.

And so, with these in mind, I have been intrigued about how to balance figuring out a solid plan but at the same time, how to deal with uncertainties better.

And so, from reading this book titled “Tools of Titans: The tactics, routines, and habits of billionaires, icons, and world class performers” by Tim Ferris, I have came across this concept called:

5 Minute Journal (“5MJ”)

And I’ve figured that this is quite interesting. And I should begin doing this right away.

Basically, the 5MJ consists of just 3 answers to 5 questions (3 questions in the morning, and 2 at night)

A.M.

  1. I am grateful for: a.____ b. ____ c. _____
  2. What would make today great: a.____ b. ____ c. _____
  3. Daily affirmation: a.____ b. ____ c. _____

P.M. / Evening

  1. 3 amazing things that happened today: a.____ b. ____ c. _____
  2. How could I have made today better?: a.____ b. ____ c. _____

And as the book mentioned, it will be interesting to go back to the “3 amazing things that happened today” on a monthly basis.

With this approach, I feel like this can heavily contribute to improving the quality of my days. And eventually, will have an exponential impact to the quality of my life.

Here’s to enjoying more of the present moment :)

Life is good.
